Letter from the Pastor

May 5, 2024

Dear Families I am so sorry for not doing a better job keeping up with all of you regarding my health. I don’t want it to dominate the conversation, but I also want to make sure you are “in the loop.” Let me do a quick update. Holy Week and Easter were wonderful celebrations here in South Seattle. We had 15 people come into the church and the liturgies were beautiful and rewarding. I was exhausted by the end of Easter, but it felt really good at the same time. All of my siblings were able to get together for Easter Dinner and we had a great time laughing and sharing as well as a bit of crying and caring. It was good for all of us to be together. It was the first time we could all be together since learning of my diagnosis. I am so grateful for their love and support.

I am currently on week nine of my chemotherapy. It has taken a toll, but I still am able to work and get most things done. Every day is a little different and I continue to deal with new and challenging physical issues (neuropathy, fatigue, sore muscles and bones, a little tremble in my hands, etc.), but I am weathering to the best of my ability. I celebrated my 59th birthday last Saturday, the 20th and am looking forward to my 60th which will be on Easter Sunday next year!

Your prayers, cards, gifts have meant so much to me. I am wrapped in love and feel the strength of your support. Please know how grateful I am for so many touching things you have done for me. I’ll try to be better about keeping you informed.

Fr. Scott Connolly
