Message from the Grand Knight

Brother Knights:

We are now in the Advent season, the beginning of the liturgical year and near the mid-point of our fraternal year. Our calendar is fairly full, with the Parish Christmas Breakfast on December 10th, the Council Christmas Social on the 15th, plus the Officer and Council Meetings. We also have our “Keep Christ in Christmas” campaign, through the sale of Christmas cards centered on the birth of Jesus.
Worthy State Treasurer Pat Kelly will be presenting the Star Council awards during the Christmas Social. We encourage the knights of the other councils to attend; our worthy District Deputy Steve Schweyen will no doubt remind the other councils in District 15. The Star Council award is not easy to achieve. Participating in several programs, including for the parish, youth, community, need to be performed and documented, all reports are to be submitted on time, Safe Environment training must have been taken. A congratulation to our Past Grand Knight Renato Sacramento for fulfilling all of the requirements for Star Council.
Our Christmas Social is a very important event as it provides an opportunity for knights and their families of multiple councils to get together in an informal and relaxed environment. While the Star Council awards will take a prominent role in the social, people will also be able to simply socialize and enjoy the music that Guy Valencia has graciously offered to provide.
In January is the March for Life to Olympia. A “Leo Leonato Bus” will be chartered; it is named after our Past Grand Knight who was very active in the program and tragically succumbed to cancer several years ago. Steve Schweyen, Renato Sacramento, and Gary Scheifley, who is District Deputy for District 34, are taking the lead in this program.
Due to some issues of paperwork regarding the Safe Environment program, we were unable to do the Soccer Challenge. Hopefully, we will be able to do the Free-Throw in January as part of the council’s Youth Program. Details will be provided when they become available.
On behalf of Council #13794, I want to wish our Knights, their families, as well as everyone in the St. George Parish and School a blessed and safe Christmas and a wonderful start of the new year.

Fraternally,

Jeff Kleppinger
Grand Knight
